The Artist

Painting is a passion, and I choose subjects that have meaning to me. Whether it is the rolling vistas of Southern Indiana and Kentucky, the flowers I just picked from my garden, or a member of my family, I find inspiration in the connection I can feel with a painting. Ask me which is my favorite painting, and I will usually reply with the last one I completed.

Born and raised in Indiana, I attended Purdue University in Lafayette and worked at Purdue before moving to Louisville Kentucky, where I completed my masters at University of Louisville. I enjoy perusing detailed maps of Kentucky and Indiana, and I am often traveling the back roads looking for a new place to paint.

I enjoy hiking, biking and the natural beauty of the landscape. Painting allows me to interpret the natural beauty of nature. I enjoy painting on location with the sun on my back and the wind in my hair. My patrons often tell me that my paintings remind them of a place in their childhood.

In October of 2006 Lynn will be featured as one of 10 artists in the book, "Painting Indiana, The Changing Face of Agriculture." These books are available for sale and the colorful paintings make great coffee table books. Some of the local and national shows of which I have had the honor of participating include The Hoosier Salon 2006; Arts on Main 2006 in Shelbyville, Kentucky and The Water Tower Annual 2004.

I was an art director in advertising for many years before picking up a paint brush. Painting has been therapeutic to me in dealing with the loss of my son to childhood cancer. I donate a portion of my proceeds from the sale of each painting to Childhood Cancer Research. Over the past few years, I have been lucky enough to study with Wolf Kahn in Vermont and Skip Whitcomb in Colorado. I am a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association as well as the Oil Painters of America.
