| The
Artist
Born and raised in Indiana, she attended Purdue University in Lafayette before moving to Louisville Kentucky, where she completed her masters degree at University of Louisville. To satisfy her adventurous spirit and deep love of nature, she especially enjoys painting plein air landscapes of both of her past and present home states, and can often be found traveling the back roads looking for new places to paint. Recently, Lynn has taken to the literal “air” to begin a series of aerial landscapes that require her to do research by flying the skies in an airplane with the window wide open. This series displays a unique interpretation of the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. Though she was an advertising art director by trade before picking up a paint brush, Lynn has found a healing grace in the art of oil painting. It has been therapeutic to her in dealing with the loss of her son to childhood cancer. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each painting are donated to Childhood Cancer Research. She has studied with great painters in many states like Wolf Kahn in Vermont and Skip Whitcomb in Colorado. She is a member of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association as well as the Oil Painters of America. Her painting currently graces the cover of the book in which she is featured, Painting Indiana, The Changing Face of Agriculture, and is available for sale through Indiana University Press. Her work has been honored in local and national shows, including The Hoosier Salon, Arts on Main in Shelbyville, Kentucky and PaintAmerica. She most recently won the grand prize at Louisville Visual Art Association's 2010 Water Tower Paint Out event.
